September is coming with SO much fun in Barcelona

Boy on bike by beach.

This city doesn’t stop. Maybe the summer is starting to leave, but we will still have this amazing warm weather for a while… and better yet, lots of fun stuff to do in Barcelona during the autumn. Keep reading and get inspired!

Yes, vacation time is almost over. Rather than be sad, keep your adventurous mood on, because September is a great month to enjoy other activities in Barcelona. If you are running out of creativity, here are 5 ideas to face September with a smile:

The beach for yourself

We will still have sun to enjoy and relax. Definitely, it will be less people on the beaches, so you’ll have them for yourself! Costa Brava, Sitges, Tarragona, Formentera… the options are numerous. Plan a day trip and extend the beach time a little bit more.

Dreaming Gardens

Still sunny but not deadly hot, September is perfect for a romantic walk or a calm time to read a book in beautiful gardens. Parc de Laberint D’ Horta is located in Horta-Guinardó, and it has a neoclassical style. The garden was designed by the owner of the lot, the marquis Joan Antoni Desvalls I d’ Ardena and the Italian architect, Domenico Bagutti in 1791. You can walk by the trees, see the waterfalls and fountains. Jardins de la Tamarita is another lovely place for a peaceful moment. Located in Sarriá – St. Gervasi district, it was a private park that became public (same as Laberint D’ Horta).

Barcelona de nit

A night walking around is better when it’s less humid. Visit the Born or The Gothic Quarter and discover not only Barcelona’s history, but also the local culture, art, music, flavors, that make the Mediterranean such an attractive experience. Check out our Free Walking Tours or Biking Tours to get Barcelona from a new perspective.

Diada

Mark September 11th in your calendar, because it is the National Day of Catalonia. It commemorates the fall of Barcelona during the War of the Spanish Succession in 1714. Besides the ceremonies and floral offerings, it is a day to visit the National Art Museum and Museum of the History of Catalonia, whose are free that day. If you are a foodie, you have another excuse to eat (more) pa amb tomaquet, tapas and drink cava.

Best time for terraces

Having a drink, outside, feeling the breeze and just chilling. Can it be more perfect? September is also a good month to go to terraces and get comfy. In Gracia you can visit Café del Sol or Olokuti for some nice views and cool atmosphere. Café d’ estiu at Gothic (the terrace is only opened during summer time) and El Cercle in the neighborhood too, just to name some.
