There are a ton of Barcelona attractions, and it will take you many days and weeks until you can get to see them all. With so many things to do in Barcelona and so many different types of tours we are kinda spoilt. If one our free Barcelona walking tour or our Barcelona bike tours don’t appeal to you, then the Hop on Hop off Barcelona bus turistic is a good option.

ROUTES

The original hop on hop off Barcelona is the best of Barcelona Bus Turistic, there is another one called Barcelona City Tour however, they have two tours only. The Barcelona Bus Turistic has five tours that go all over the city, visiting every important attraction. There routes are:

The Red Route starts from Plaça de Catalunya to the parc de la ciutadella and ends at Port Olimpic.

The Green Route is only available from April to November. For more exact dates you should visit their website. This route starts from Port Olimpic and passes near the City’s beaches.

The Blue Route starts from Plaça de Catalunya to the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary art and finishes at the FC Barcelona stadium.

The East Route Begins from Plaça de Catalunya to Passeig de Gracia and ends at Avinguda Diagonal.

Type of buses

All of the buses are double-deckers and roofless so you can get a very nice 360 view of your surroundings. These buses go to any place that is worth visiting and everything in between. If you plan to visit Barcelona don’t forget to take you camera because you will have some great shots – as long as you sit on the top floor of course. If you get a bus that has a full top floor you should wait for the next one.

Schedule

You wouldn’t get the same kind of customizable tour as with our Barcelona private tours by van, but these buses are very user friendly.
There are some types of totems all over the City where buses have stops and they display all sorts of useful information. One of them is the bus schedule. Buses will come once every 10 to 25 minutes so there is no need to worry about missing one.
The idea behind hop on hop off is that you can literally get off the bus whenever you want. Check out some attractions that are in that area and when you are done just look for a bus stop to hop back on and continue the journey.

What to expect

  • Use the same ticker (sightseeing pass) to ride the bus for the whole day or even more, depending on what package you purchased.
  • Ride the bus as much as you like, and get off whenever you wish to see a museum or cathedral.
  • View some of the most amazing attractions such as the Roman Catholic basilica or Sagrada Familia.
  • The bus will take you to all the shopping districts where you can buy souvenirs from Parc Guell. The bus will also have routes near major gardens and UNESCO sites.
  • Visit the Barcelona Cathedral and admire it in all its glory.
  • Visit FC Barcelona’s football stadium (Camp Nou).

If you are feeling a bit more energetic and don’t want to spend too much time sat on a bus, then check out our various Barcelona bike tours on offer.
